This article is dedicated to managing the point information that is on the tablet. Other articles will address point creation, specifically. The information in the below article will help you work within the point edit menu on the tablet.
How do I find the point edit menu?
The point edit menu is found on the left side of the screen when you are working within your CAD file:
Simply press the edit pencil to edit your point list:
If you only want to view or edit specific points, you can use the filter option:
Notice that more than one filter can be applied, and the software conveniently shows details of where filters are being applied:
Filter by point type, point name, time created, by coordinate, by attribute. It is important to note that while it is possible to edit any type of point, when editing multiple points at once, it is required that they are the same point type.
Simply use the select all button on the right to undo the filter, or simply click the "show all" button at the bottom of the screen:
There is also sometimes a "deselect" all button that can be used when nothing yet has been filtered:
When in doubt, the filter icon will always appear yellow when a filter has been applied:
Other helpful viewing tip:
When you press the "expand all" button, you will be able to see more details regarding your points on the screen without going into the edit points menu:
Use the settings gear to edit point column visibility and column order:
Use the column sort options to sort relevant columns in ascending or descending order:
What can you do when in the point edit screen?
When the point edit screen opens, you will see a screen that looks like the screenshot below - with options to select and edit the points:
Select all points:
Edit selected points or add new ones:
More on these options below.
Delete selected points:
Note that certain control points will not be able to be deleted if they are used in the current stationing:
Note that if you delete a station point, the linked data to that station point will also be deleted, such as staked points, stationing report data, and points measured through "measure and record." It is recommended that you export relevant point data before deleting station points in case you need information later.
Convert selected points to a control or layout point:
Note that even though a point is converted, the old point will remain on the point list unless deleted manually.
How to use the "Plus" and "Edit" Icon on the Point Edit Screen:
Pressing the plus and edit pencil icon invites you to add or edit a point manually:
Give the point you are making/editing a name, coordinates, height of rod information (if necessary), attributes (if necessary), and clarify the layer you would like it to be placed. Attributes are basic notes provided by the end user that are point-specific information that can be displayed either in the point menu or during layout. Note, Height of Rod is only an option available when editing a control point that has a prism type that can be placed on a prism rod (like a POA 25).
When editing control points, you will have the option of editing the prism type associated with it:
