Having a cloud drive accessible on the HCL tablet software helps develop a seamless workflow and allows for a convenient way to back up your data and files.
Step 1: Set up a Cloud Drive within the File Explorer
Your PLC tablet has Windows 10 or Windows 11 capability. This means that cloud folders such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or One Drive can be established. The could drive will live within the file path of the File Explorer:
Each cloud service provider has their own individual methods of installing a folder within your file explorer, therefore please use their services to install a cloud drive first and link it to your cloud account you have with them. You can have as many cloud folders on your device as you would like.
Step 2: Link your Preferred Cloud Service within HCL
Within HCL, navigate to the settings icon and select "Cloud Storage."
Here, you can select the cloud storage application you would like to show up by default when you open up a file from the cloud within the file import and export location:
The software will find the cloud folder already associated with your service of choice, and if it is not installed, it will prompt you to install it:
If there is a cloud drive that is not one of the default cloud drives listed in the menu, you can always select your cloud folder manually by using the "user defined option."
Step 3: Quickly Navigate to this Folder
When importing or exporting files, you will see the "cloud" icon at the top of the screen:
Simply tap on this, and it will automatically go to the folder you defined in settings.
Note that if there is another folder that you would like to navigate to (even another cloud folder), you can navigate to it in the top left by going anywhere within your C:\ drive.
Always remember that since the cloud is internet based, you will need to be connected to the internet to download and access files for the HCL software. Files exported to the cloud drive will also need to sync to the cloud via internet to be visible wherever else you access this cloud drive.
