Height Transfer: How to Use

  • Updated

The "Height Transfer" application is designed to be used to quickly identify heights of objects and surfaces throughout your jobsite. It will allow you to quickly adjust based on the height measurements you see based of of your chosen benchmark.

To use it, simply press the measure button on the right side and navigate to your requested height offset. If you need more instructions, please see below.

This application can be used even if your tool is not stationed. This means you do not need to station with control points in order to use it. However, the "absolute height" feature within the Height Transfer application will not be available unless the tool has been stationed with coordinates and its station height has been calculated.

Height Transfer: Using the "Offset" Tab

When height transfer opens, it will likely automatically open the "offset" option on the right side of the screen.

This invites you to turn the tool to a surface where you can then 1) measure to a benchmark by pressing the red measure button, and then 2) observe deviation results to that benchmark as you measure other locations on your jobsite.

Example:

I measure a certain benchmark on my jobsite by pressing the red measure button:

I then  type in the offset from that height that I would like to reach:

The tool then attempts to move to that height offset at its current angular position:

The tool can also be moved manually via the camera or by tracking a prism, and it will live track how close it is getting to your designated offset height location:

Height Transfer: Using the "Absolute" Tab

This tab is referring to the station height that you have established already during the stationing process. See this article if you need help stationing the tool with heights.

When you have found a location on your jobsite that you would like to compare to your benchmark height of the jobsite already established during stationing, simply press the red measure button:

After doing so, the software will immediately indicate the direction (up or down) that you need to go in order to arrive at your desired height location compared to the benchmark:

You can also type in an offset to your benchmark height, where the tool will operate the same as in the "offset" tab to navigate to the offset height requested:
