Dimension Application - How to

  • Updated

Do you need to add the length of a line to your design? Do you want to have dimension for different lines show on the file without having to redo measurements? This article is about how to add dimension measures and labels to your file.

How to Add Dimension Labels to Your File?

  1. Open Your Project: Start by opening any project on your tablet.
  2. Open Application: Either from the home screen or from the side menu in CAD view.
    1. If you do not have the 'Dimensions Application' in the home screen, select add shortcut and add the application shown below.
  3. Select Lines and Add Label: Follow the prompts to get your measurements.

Select the lines you wish to measure and label. These should turn red. To unselect a line click on it again; it should go back to its original color. When you have selected all the lines you wish to add dimension labels to, click on the green check point on the right. Your dimension labels will appear above or to the right of your selected lines.

Note: These dimension labels are temporary visuals only. They are not saved to the CAD file. This means that if you are exporting the CAD file from the tablet, the dimensional text will not export as part of the file. Likewise, once you switch projects or jobs or close the HCL application, the dimensions will also no longer be displayed when the project is opened again.
