The View CAD Application is part of the standard 5 applications always shown on the home screen. This application simply allows you to investigate your CAD file freely on the tablet, even in 3D if necessary.
How to Open the View CAD Application?
- Open Your Project: Start by opening any project on your tablet.
- Open Application: Either from the home screen or from the side menu in CAD view.
- View & Inspect the File: View your file and select the different views below if you wish
CAD View Settings
On the bottom left hand corner you can find the view settings.
Note that the first icon with the four arrows, when highlighted dark gray, simply means that you can pan freely around your CAD file in whatever 2D or 3D view you have established. This view mode can be active even when you are not specifically in the "CAD View" application (such as if you are drawing lines or creating points).
When that icon is tapped, however, more view options will appear for your convenience, such as adjusting background view settings, using different zoom options, and others. These are explained below.
Standard Framing View: The empty circle icon allows you to view the application in a standard light mode with framing. This is the default view mode for your files.
3D Framing View: : The 3D circle icon allows you to adjust the view of 3D files. (CAD files will just get a blue background when selecting this option, even when working with 2D files).
3D Fill View: The black circle icon allows you to view your file in a 3D view with filled in framing.
Redraw: The icon with the black curve with an arrow leading to another red curve is used to smooth jagged segmented lines of your file. You will likely never need to use this option.
3D Shading: the pitcher with grey filling icon is used to show depth by shading in and adding a gray scale to the model (removes the colors of 3D elements). This is especially useful for plain drawings or frames without shading. Important: once added, the shading cannot be removed unless you switch to another job or project first before coming back.
Zoom Out: The black box with the red arrows in the middle allows you to quickly zoom out of the file to see everything that is contained in the CAD area of the file - points and CAD elements. Note - if you have elements in your file that are extremely long distances from each other, the CAD vie area could seem to appear blank when using this option.
Zoom Into Area: The magnifying glass with the square in the background allows you to select an area in your file and quickly zoom into it.
Zoom Menu: The magnifying glass with the plus or minus on either side allows you to toggle a shortcut zoom menu on top of the view menu to quickly zoom in and out with the plus or minus buttons. To make these disappear simply click on the icon again.
3D View Settings
Below the icon with the four arrows, you can find the 3D position icon which resembles a cube with an arrow surrounding it. With this icon you can change the view settings of your file to view the coordinates from different 3D positions. When this option is active, you can rotate the drawing manually as needed.
The pop up menu on the right of this icon allows you to shift quickly between different views (for example from the top, from the sides or from the bottom).
If you would like to go back to the default view and pan mode, simply select the top-down view option again, followed by the 4 arrows:
