The Create Center Point Application allows you to create points based on three connecting lines. It is a useful point creation method to create a center point based on line references.
How to Create a Center Point
- Open Your Project: Start by opening any project on your tablet.
- Open Application: Either from the home screen or from the side menu in CAD view.
- If you do not have the 'Create Center Point Application' in the home screen, you can select add shortcut and add the application shown below, or navigate to it from the navigation menu.
Select Three Lines and Create Point: Select three connecting lines and create your point.
Select three perpendicular lines that connect (ideally three lines that are part of the same rectangle or square). These should turn red as you select them. After selecting three lines, a red point should appear in the center.
Some things to Watch Out for:
If you get the message "The selected lines do not define a rectangle" make sure you select three lines of a rectangle instead - the lines you are using must be able form a rectangle or square.
In addition, this application works only when selecting objects that are categorized as "lines" within CAD. If you are attempting to find a center point of an object that is not defined as "lines" in CAD (a 3D object or a decorative object, for instance), this application will not work.
For instance, I am not able to select this 2D piping image, even though it looks like it forms a square, as the object's boundaries are not technically defined as "lines."
Define Point
Once the point appears in the center of your three lines, you can edit its name using the menu on the right hand side of your screen. Here you can also define the point type (layout or control point). Once you are done, select the green check mark to the right of your screen and the point will be added to your drawing.
