When performing line layout and point layout, you can enhance your experience by adding audio feedback to give proximity signaling during measuring.
Audio feedback for Point & Line Layout Explained
When laying out a point with a prism, proximity‑based audio feedback can be enabled. As soon as you measurably approach the selected layout point or line, HCL plays an approach signal in a loop. The sound changes dynamically as you get closer (e.g., faster beeps/higher frequency), helping you navigate to the point without continuous visual checks.
When you reach the target within the set 2D tolerance, HCL switches to a continuous tone to confirm that the point or line is reached with the desired accuracy. If tolerance is turned off, HCL internally uses 1 mm as default for the “target reached” detection.
The audio feedback volume can be managed using volume up/down keys. Volume and output device can be configured via windows settings (such as a Bluetooth headset). The signal is designed to be clearly distinguishable from other audio events and to remain understandable in noisy environments.
Important notes / behavior
Audio feedback works only in prism mode.
Audio feedback is based on 2D proximity/approach (no height audio guidance).
No layout point or line selected → no audio.
When opening Find Me or Settings, the beep stops.
For line layout, as long as the line remains selected, the tone also will remain audible when in proximity to your tolerance.
How Enable/Disable Audio Feedback in Layout
To enable or disable audio feedback in layout, simply go to the General Settings tab in settings and enable on or off:
