Settings Overview

The Settings section in Hilti Construction Layout (HCL) consists of multiple tabs, each dedicated to a specific area of configuration. These settings allow control over general application behavior, display options, measurement accuracy, tool connectivity, system information, and legal preferences.

Each tab contains adjustable inputs and options that support different workflows, site requirements, and user preferences. Detailed explanations for each section are available in their corresponding dedicated articles.

General Settings

The General Settings tab contains core configuration options that affect how measurements, coordinates, angles, language, and input behavior are handled throughout the application.

This section includes settings such as:

  • Height display (on or off)
  • Distance units
  • Coordinate display and input format
  • Decimal format
  • Angle units and angle resolution
  • Application language for HCL
  • VA (Vertical Angle) Zero reference
  • GPS configuration
  • GPS angle sectors for HA (Horizontal Angle) and VA
  • Prism/target angle sectors for HA and VA
  • Predictive search time
  • Keyboard language

Screen and View Settings

The Screen and View Settings tab focuses on visualization and on‑screen information for both overlay and CAD views. These options help tailor the amount and type of information displayed during layout, measurement, and review tasks.

This section includes settings for:

  • Overlay options such as point overlay, Smart Target, and line overlay
  • CAD view options such as point information, point height, dimensions, tool orientation, scale, direction, and absolute height
  • Endpoint behavior for point creation
  • Layout‑specific options including auto zoom, map orientation, “from line start” display in line layout, and visible attributes

Tolerance Settings

The Tolerance tab contains settings related to layout and measurement tolerances. These options define acceptable deviation limits during layout and verification processes.

Tool and Connection Settings

The Tool and Connection tab contains settings required to establish and manage the connection between the PLC and the layout tool.

This section includes:

  • Tool type selection
  • Auto‑connect behavior
  • Connection parameters such as head unit ID
  • Tool‑specific settings, including guide light configuration

PPM Settings

The PPM tab contains settings for Parts Per Million corrections used in distance measurements. These settings help improve measurement accuracy by accounting for environmental conditions.

This section includes:

  • PPM calculation settings
  • Pressure units and pressure value
  • Temperature units and temperature value

System Info

The System Info tab displays current software and firmware information for the device and connected tools. It also provides the option to check for available updates.

Cloud Storage Settings

The Cloud Storage tab contains settings that allow cloud storage services to be connected to the PLC. This enables access to cloud‑based project files and data synchronization where supported.

EULA & Privacy Notice Settings

The EULA & Privacy Notice tab contains legal and compliance‑related information for Hilti Construction Layout.

This section includes:

  • Terms and Conditions
  • Privacy Notice
  • Third‑party notices
  • Country and language selection for legal documents
  • Options to agree to terms and manage app data collection and usage preferences

Support Settings

The Support tab provides access to diagnostic and support tools.

  • Enables remote support connections via TeamViewer
  • Allows diagnostic data to be saved for troubleshooting purposes
